As a community service announcement for married Nudists and those contemplating the sacrament we have linked with this bulletin Leilouta's guide to, "How to Make your Wife Happy". Amongst many pearls of wisdom we took particular note of this sage advice for husbands (and potential husbands).

Cadres of Uber Nudists have obviously been at work here. As we have previously reported it is a fundamental pillar of Uber Nudist doctrine that hair is a form of clothing and needs to be removed in their vision of a perfect Nudist world.

Such subtlelty! Planting the seeds of revolution so deep and so carefully! Whole generations of men will now be sub-consciously in thrall to the Uber Nudist agenda. Not since the Soviets were able to subvert a whole generation of Cambridge and Oxford graduates has there been such a successful coup!

However the seeds of internecine strife are not far away! Naturists nudists too have been successful. The injunction to grow beards clearly the work of some Naturist Nudist who is not a shareholder of Gillette.

As the Nude News Legal Department has often warned public nudity in predominantly Islamic countries may be subject to various forms of sanction. Some of them quite unpleasant. Still the seeds have now been sown and the ultimate triumph of the Nudists revolution may now be something more than a pious aspiration.

Contempt - and not just for Nudists

Edinburgh: Following our earlier reports of his arrest, we can now add that Nudist hero Mr Stephen Gough has been jailed for contempt by an Edinburgh court. Mr Gough's nudity and refusal to follow the fashion dictates of the Edinburgh sheriffs Court have been judged to be a contempt of court. Mr Gough will now have two months in a Scottish jail to ponder the dress codes and mores of the justice system in the United Kingdom.

Jakarta: Contempt of court develops a new meaning in the case of Tommy Soeharto. The son of former President Soeharto has been reportedly seen in Jakarta on an ever increasing basis notwithstanding a 15 year sentence for murder (now reduced to 7). Last month if reports are to be believed, he spent thirteen days in the capital for medical treatment. The treatment was so urgent and so serious it could only be treated at his luxury villa on the outskirts of Jakarta. No doubt concerned citizens would rest safely in their beds in the knowledge that a convicted murderer is being safely confined in his own home. This bulletin wonders if Tommy would like to change places with Mr Gough for two months?

Jakarta: Woman seem to be still held in contempt by proponents of the new anti pornography bill in the Indonesia. Protest have been gathering such as the one pictured here. If you are having trouble with the caption it reads "My Body belongs to me".

The bill which if implemented would not only be looking at pornography but also introduces the concept of immoral behavior. This could be kissing in the streets, holding hands wearing kabaya. Probably more insidious would be a new moral or religious police. With rampant corruption and widespread abuses hopelessly undermining confidence in the existing police force what are the portents of a new one? No doubt arrest statistics will increase as we see large numbers of woman arrested for wearing "revealing clothes" whilst convicted murderers spend large periods out of jail and trillions of ruppiah are stolen from the government coffers every year.

In the meantime the Nude News legal department advises nudists in Jakarta to refrain from public nudity.

Potential setbacks in Indonesia

Jakarta: In his post today, Jakartass also deals with the proposed pornography bill in Indonesia. Thanks to his post we have been made aware of another blog, Jiwa Merdeka that is also taking a stand against the proposed legislation. There is more reaction to this in our earlier bulletin.

As Jakartass points out,

"The state has already had several laws, which provide a sufficient legal response to sexual-related and pornography-related crimes. Those laws are the Criminal Code, Law on Press, Law on Broadcasting, Law on National Motion Picture, Law on Children Protection and Law on Domestic Violence.

The members of the House of Representatives should pay more attention to real, pressing problems of poverty, economic uncertainty and education stagnation instead of drafting an absurd law that will adversely affect the integrity of our nation."

Successes and Failures for the Nudist Revolution

IndCoup reports today that even Bank Indonesia is vulnerable to the nudist revolution. Whilst this August institution has at times been a stranger to exposure, certainly to transparency, it is good to see that they have in the case of art made an exception.

Scotland: Following on from yesterday's bulletin, we must report that police harassment of Stephen Gough has continued. He was arrested outside an Edinburgh court for being naked. Sheriff's of the court have maintained that our Nudist hero is in contempt of the court. One wonders how many times this hero of the Nudist movement will be carted off (like a fellow activist pictured here) to gaol before his cause ultimately triumphs.

Is this a case of judicial activism?

Citizens of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth countries have long tolerated the cross dressing fantasies of members of the legal profession. Horse hair wigs, flowing black gowns, garters, ermine trimmed coats and gorgeous scarlet robes are gladly indulged and tolerated. Yet these beneficiaries of the public indulgence have turned fashionistas. Why should they make Mr Gough conform with there bizarre and some would say ambiguous role playing? Do they fear a day perhaps not long far off that they will have to sit on the bench all of their dignity revealed? One wonders how His honor (pictured) will maintain his dignity in the future?

Jakarta: There is nothing funny going on with respect to the proposed pornography legislation proposed in Indonesia. As Pandaya reports in today's Jakarta Post, a good many people may be impacted by the proposed bill. (We will quote from Pandaya'a article at length below. Links to the Jakarta post on line edition are often unreliable.)

" Javanese women have to hang up their kebaya, or blouses, for good because Article 79 of the bill mandates a Rp 200 million fine and a minimal jail term of two years for "showing off sensual parts of the female body", which include thighs, hips, breasts and navel. Imagine how many millions of women in Java, Bali and Sulawesi will be jailed and bankrupted."

As Pandaya rightly points out the focus seems to be disproportionately on woman. For those who may have have thought Kebaya was some form of Brazilian inspired bikini. Please see the picture right to see the elegant and tasteful dress worn so gracefully by millions of Indonesian woman.

"The bill, which in part is meant to protect women from sexual exploitation, ends up demonizing women as the cause of all sexual evils, compelling the state to force them to cover up. Mind you, the definition of "sensual body parts" does not really apply to men!"

It is always good to know that legislators have got their priorities right. After all in a country that has rampant corruption, which a casual observer may, with some justification, conclude leads to moral stagation. Something the proponents of the Pornography Bill hope to combat. As Pandaya concludes,

"The truth is that pornography, like many other social ills, is rampant because the laws are not properly enforced as corruption reigns supreme. The distribution and sale of "erotic" materials are not regulated. Raunchy tabloids are not stopped by the Press Law.

With the country campaigning to combat corruption, it would seem the bill on the protection of whistle-blowers is more urgent than the porn bill. "

The United Kingdom: In an event that future generations may see as a crossing of the Rubicon, Stephen Gough and Melanie Roberts have completed their long march into the halls of the heroes of the Nudist revolution. They have trekked nude from Lands End to John O'Groats. On the way they were arrested a total of 14 times. Stephen 9 times and Melanie 5 times. Read more here.

A former marine Gough has been campaigning for the right to be nude. Sustained in their long trek by fellow nudists (please see photo) the pair have been making an emphatic stand on behalf of all nudists. No doubt one day in the future when the Nude revolution has triumphed everywhere this former marine can stand nude amongst his fellows on parade at the trooping of the colour.

Times remain tough for French Nudists. The Gendamerie continue there heavy handed actions against Nudists. Nude activists are submitted to the indignity of being covered with makeshift garments and marched off under the supervision of fully clothed officials.

Paris: However not all is lost for French nudists. The Louvre in Paris has opened an exhibition of the works of Jean Auguste Ingres. In a subtle yet powerful display of solidarity for all nudists, the exhibition again highlights the inescapable links between nudity and everyday life. For nudists who are interested they should read a review by Richard Dormant from the Telegraph newspaper online.

Long unfashionable in the western sphere of this humble planet, we understand that in old fashioned society it still holds sway - after dark.

In a further community service announcement we urge all nudists to send a nude card in an effort to spread nudist goodwill to all believers and non believers alike.

Rules for Nudists?

Cleveland: In a community service announcement to all Nudists considering employment as Nude models we are happy to bring you these tips on Nude modelling. These tips were carried in the Plain Dealer. Those wishing to read more should click here.

1. Avoid eye contact with students while posing.

2. Focus on a spot on the wall, floor or out the window while posing.

3. For long poses, try to choose something comfortable.

4. Put on a robe during breaks.

5. Remove body jewelry while posing.

6. Don't talk or mingle with students or instructors.

7. Try to take poses that imply movement.

8. Picture yourself as a classic statue standing in the town square.

Still these rules have lead to some disturbing issues.

We are uncertain as to the admonition to remove body jewellery. Is this minamalist dogma writ large? Do the uber nudists consider body jewellery a form of clothing? The implications are disturbing. Will the nudist revolution be fractured by internal strife before it has marched off the beaches? Will the uber nudists declare hair a form of clothing and go around bald the self declared puritans of the Nudist revolution? Sadly we can forsee strife with the naturist nudists. These hirsute devotees no doubt will preach anathema against razors and hair clippers of all sorts. No doubt their luddite tendencies will be further inflamed by waxing and electrolysis.

Into this volatile mix enters the explosive issue of tatoos. Are these to be regarded as a violation of the body's sacred canvas or simply to be regarded as the ultimate demonstration of free expression? Will there supposed sacrilege against the body's sacred temple have them expelled from our nudist Eden? Is it possible that they will have to seek sanctuary in sme Scandinavian nudists colony faraway from the reaches of the uber nudists?

Will the membrane of the nudist revolution be torn by sectarian nudist strife? Is it possible that the nudist revolution could become bogged down by dogma? In the future nudist society god forbid there maybe strict nudist segregation. One may stumble into one community of uber nudists where the discovery of one hair follicle would be grounds for instant expulsion. At other colonies those nudists without tattoos would be second hand citizens the unembellished underclass.

Could it all come to this? It was all meant to be so innocent. Everyone is meant to tbe better off.

Could having one set of rules lead to so much confusion? Who will save our troubled nudist pictured here?

Perhaps we should just issue a fatwah or draw a tiny little cartoon.

The Nude News Legal Department has received a grant from the European Commision to examine the legal protection for Nudist minorities. They are currently drafting legislation that would ban the the offending of nudist sensibilities.

Osama is out there

Washington: With Osama Bin Ladan still at large, it is good to know that The Department of Homeland Security has got its priorities right. Washington Technology today reports that of the 65 million security violation alerts on its WAN (we think this stand for wireless access system?) 10% were for suspected pornography misuse. The big problem is they don't really know because their search mechanisms may search for a word such as "oral" and the scan picks up a harmless file.

All of this information is contained in the Inspector General's report. However we wonder just how this adds to Homeland Security in the US?

Then again greater minds may be at work here. Perhaps this explains why Osama has gone to ground. Instead of bombers they are going to mount a subliminal attack on the US bombarding its morals with wave after wave of porn. Osama may be out there somewhere as a web master directing wave after wave of new porn sites to threaten the moral fabric of the "Great Satan". Perhaps he is holed up in the Netherlands, smoking funny cigarettes and interviewing his latest wave of fighters for the cause. Is this his new lieutenant (see top right)? And are these the dangerous but subtle anti personnel devices (see bottom right) she is going to plant in an unsuspecting America?

Perhaps only Osama and the Department of Homeland Security know the answers

Brisbane: The management of the Queensland Reds are also threatened by nudity. The Courier Mail reports that they are going to order a cover up of their cheer squad after they received complaints from patrons following the half time performance of the cheer squad. This bulletin ever suspicious of cover ups, wonders as to why? Some people thought the show to provocative and that it went on far too long. Or could it be that the cheersquad outperformed the team who were soundly beaten on the day. No wonder the management ordered them to cover up. Out performing the football team is a terrible sin in Queensland. No doubt the ladies would be welcome south of the border.

Bali Nine

Bali: In what was no surprise Indonesian Courts sitting in Bali handed down life sentances for Renae Lawrence and Scott Rush members of the so-called Bali nine. The Age has more here. Following the hysteria of the unlamented Schapelle Corby and the theologically challenged Michelle Leslie the verdicts have almost passed without a murmer of dissent from a notoriously fickle Australian media.

It is amazing how lacking in sympathy elements of the Australian media have been. For more one should read Luke McIllveen's story here. No protestations of innocence and the only defence against the death penalty is on the grounds of compassion.

What price fame? There was no Gold Coast businessman coming to the rescue of Ms Laurence. Perhaps she should have hired Ms Corbys and Ms Leslie's dramatist I mean publicist. Then again she may be paying for the sins of the former as well.

London: The Guardian carried an article by Jonathon Jones this week regarding the difference between naked and nude. This may be a philosphical conumdrum that has not troubled the good viewers of this bulletin. However Mr Jones uses it as his thesis for explaining why some some people appear nude in media but are not naked as in the most recent cover of Vanity Fair.

The Nude News had approached Ms Johannson to appear for this bulletin. However we regret to advise that we have not received a response to our enquiries. Ms Leibowitz's fees too are beyond the resources of this service.

Indonesia Update

Jakarta: The Jakarta Post carries an article announcing that the Indonesian parliament is going to address the issue of dual citizenship for children born to Indonesians who are married to foreign citizens as well as to children born to Indonesian parents whilst overseas. A citizenship bill has been brought to Parliament for deliberation.

Details are distressingly sketchy but if the bill does succeed in bringing some measure of protection with respect to the issue of citizenship to children born to mixed (nationality) marriages then Justice may well and truly be served. We have yet to receive confirmation as to if the mooted IDR500million (eq US$ 50,000) bond that would be required from a foreign male if he wished to marry an Indonesian woman will be sought. Hopefully this grossly insult provision to Indonesian woman has been omitted.

However the workings of the parliament when deliberating a new bill are most kindly described as esoteric. One may be forgiven for thinking one has entered onto a trading floor but this is democracy at work. To the tune of melodic handphone ring tones laws are been drafted and debated.

One wonders what confidence those who are awaiting the outcome of the debate can take right now.

On the Justice issue we note however that a former Minister of Religion no less has been sentenced to imprisonment on graft charges. The Centeral Jakarta District Court sentenced Said Agil Hussein to five years imprisonment for his part in the embezzlement of IDR 652 billion ( Eq US$70 million). The now disgraced minister has vowed to appeal. In previous trials notably of Akbar Tandjung we note that the appellant process ultimately saw his acquittal. However this should not take away from the importance of yesterday's decision.

We have been unable to confirm if the former Minister has spent his first day in prison yet.

Slowly but surely the President's anti corruption campaign is taking root.

Brisbane: Give a small person a uniform and it is not surprising how low they can go. Ms Peta Bull on boarding a Jet Star flight to Brisbane was asked by flight attendants to cover up her partially covered tattoo which depicts an embracing couple. Please see image posted right. How Ms Bull seated in an airline seat in a cramped plane could cause offence to any passenger other than those with X Ray vision is somewhat difficult to comprehend. How a Flight Attendant that can barely be entrusted to push a drinks cart without a license is entrusted to become the arbiter of good taste is also somewhat of a mystery to the editorial staff of this bulletin.

As reported in The Sydney Morning Herald another passenger who was wearing a tee shirt with an obscenity was not asked to cover up. Why pick on Ms Bull? We have all been on flights when we have suffered the obnoxious behavior of fellow passengers ,god forbid the flight crew and nothing is done. No doubt the obnoxious self appointed style arbiter would be happier working for a repressive dictatorship

Jet Star's response is typically lame. They will wait until they receive the letter of complaint. Naturally as a subsidiary of Qantas we should expect no better; their contempt for paying passengers is renown.

What is best is that Miss Bull traveled the return leg dressed in an similar fashion on the same airline and nothing was done. This was before her complaints were aired in the media.

Ms Bull is our latest heroine of the Nudist revolution.

Jakarta: In a surprising admission, Indonesian defense Minister Juwono Sudarsono has apparently admitted that some Indonesian troops may have committed atrocities in Papua according to an article in The Sydney Morning Herald. In a further statement attributed this time carried in yesterday's Jakarta Post the same minister is quoted as announcing that the ban on foreign media reporting will remain in force for the foreseeable future (We apologise as the link to this story is no longer available). How this impacts on the case of the Papuans currently seeking asylum in Australia we do not know. Nor are we able to comment on the truth in the matter. However this is the point. Will Indonesians be able to divine the truth with the increasing restrictions on reporting?

London: There is an increasing backlash in the UK by the failure of the Police to arrest demonstrators holding offensive placards at demonstrations over the weekend. Read this article in The Australian here. The Police are now responding to hundreds of complaints and have said they will investigate and lay charges where necessary. One wonders at what further evidence they require if one looks at the photo right. Were the Police providing an honor guard or turning there back on an extreme provocation?

The obnoxious calls to violence and retribution displayed are odious but in many ways sadly predictable. However it is the sentiments in the last, "Freedom Go to Hell" that demand tolerant societies take charge and vigorously pursue those who make them.

So what are the Police doing in this instance, they are now going to make enquiries. A special team has been set up to commence investigations. One wonders still why there were not able to do so on the weekend. Even if they did not want to provoke violence at the rally itself. Could they not just have followed people to their homes after they has disbursed?

Citizens in the UK no doubt will rest easy in their beds knowing that the police do have their priorities right After all last week they found time to interview Kate Moss for ninety minutes. After all this they felt no caution or warning was necessary.

No doubt the Authors of the placards viewed right are quacking in their beds.

Germany: Maybe it is not surprising but in all the furor over the cartoons depicting the Prophet, Der Spiegel carries an apposite comment from Ibn Warraq, (an English translation was carried in The Australian). It is amazing how spineless the UK, US and Australian media have been on this issue. One would have thought they would have been the first to have leapt to the defense of the right to free expression.

In our cynical mindset one wonders how cartoons originally published in September 2005 can become such a boiling issue in February 2006 without someone stoking the fires.

Sydney: The Sydney Morning Herald did manage to deal with issues of disclosure and transparency with Annabell Crabb's article on Scarlett Johansson. In a discussion with Ms Johansson we are left with the remarkably candid admission that her breasts are "ahem" the star of the show. In an article that is as shameless a piece of self promotion that we have seen since Tiara Lestari's blog there is precious little focus on anything else. Nevertheless to keep our readers suitably informed we are happy to carry the photo.

The somewhat sobering thought is that out there somewhere there may be people who are just as offended by these types of pictures as they are of cartoons of the Prophet.

Los Angeles: The Nude News Sports Desk reports that New York Euphoria triumphed over the Los Angeles Temptation in the third annual Lingerie Bowl.

We can only suggest that they extend there franchise to cover the Football World Cup in Germany this year.

Indonesian Playboy, Tiara Lestari and Censorhip

Jakarta: In another triumph of style over substance reports continue of planned protests by all sorts of people over the impending publication of Indonesian Playboy. Whilst thousands ponder the well known moral dangers of exposure to pictures of naked or near naked woman,censorship of actual information in the form of news broadcasts will be a reality shortly. On Feb 5 the new government regulation banning the direct broadcast of foreign news services comes into effect. We can all rest easily in our beds knowing that we may not get to see images of naked woman and better still not have to watch any bad or unpleasant news. The editorial team here will be wearing rose coloured glasses in future.

Yosef Ardi has an interesting piece here. One can only wonder at Tiara Lestari's opposition to Indonesian playboy. Presumably she has not been able to stich up a deal on the royalties yet.

Paris: Well for all those people who may have missed Tiara in Spanish Playboy and amd may or may not get the opportunity to read Indonesia Playboy they should check out the latest hero of the Nudist revolution. Insousciance. She is a model and photographer located in Paris. Her web site rather renders the question of censorship rather pointless.

Further more to demonstrate that this bulletin does not censor or discriminate in any way the image left is included to pacify the many female readers of this service who have vehemently complained as to editorial bias. Naturally we reject any suggestions of bias and are happy to comply with requests for full disclosure.

Nudist Suffering

Hong Kong A Babe In Toyland... one of this bulletin's correspondents is suffering from a pro longed cool spell in Hong Kong. This has lead to a case of extreme wardrobe malfunction. Read more here. Apparently our correspondent has had to have recourse to wearing "sweat pants" in an effort to warm up. Naturally we would have several more elegant alternatives in mind. The Nude News Weather department has confirmed that whilst conditions for Hong Kong are cool by local standards they should not fall below 18%c this week (and that is in the evening).

Jakarta: Indcoup has been able to confirm that Playboy will release an Indonesian edition shortly. Naturally this has provoked a storm of controversy. We will await the circulation numbers of the first few editions to see what has been the success or otherwise to the opposition to the new magazine.

Jakarta: Still in Indonesia, Governor Sutiyoso has predicted that Jakarta will be in an total traffic jam by the year 2014. This must be a comfort to those people dwelling in Jakarta who can spend up to 4 hours a day confronting the traffic.

Jakarta: Indcoup has an interesting story on an American Belly dancers trip through Indonesia. For those Indonesia devotees amongst this bulletins viewers you will find the reference to De Leila's most interesting. It is reassuring to know that some things apparently do not change.

Still in Jakarta, Jakartass carrried the rare story of a judge under arrest. We would caution those readers expecting an uplifting drama a la Spencer Tracy in Judgement at Nuremburg to limit there expectations. The South Jakarta District Court will defintely on occassion provide drama but little justice.

Kate Moss in Trouble

London: Kate Moss is in trouble again. Alex O'Connel writes an interesting opinion piece in The Times. The London Police have been making statements for her to come in for questioning. In an interesting comment on policing skills or lack thereof one wonders why they just could not have had a word all those weeks ago when the storm broke. Given the terrorist threat and the other unsolved crimes one wonders if the Police have nothing better to do. As we commented before all the fuss would have been over by now if the girl had been given a good spanking. Our artist's impression of the appropriate punishment method is featured right.

Malaysia: In a small but potentially significant step for Nudists a Malaysian Man has been granted the right to take his case of wrongful dismissal to the High Court. Our unsung hero of the Nudist revolution Mr Kandaya alledges he was wrongfully dismissed from his job when he stood naked and hosed himself down in full view of the punters at the Penang Turf Club. The Electric News has more.

Apparently Mr Kandaya was set upon by a horde of caterpillars whilst tending to a Christmas tree by the track. Mr Kandaya took what appeared to be the only sensible option and stripped off and hosed himself down immediately. As all Nudists can attest, caterpillars in numbers can be more than simply irritating.

We will keep all Nudists advised on the progress of Mr Kandaya's case.

The Nude News Weather: All Nudists who have not done so should leave Prague immediately. Temperatures are likely to remain well below zero for the next week. Frankfurt and Paris are little better. New York will be drab and Los Angeles mild for the next week. Rain persists in Singapore and Jakarta and conditions remain sultry for Nudists in Sydney.

Dresden and Koizumi

Dresden: For those Nudists who have not yet done so we recommend a trip to the Landesmuseum Fur Vorgeschichte Dresden and see their exhibition 100.000 Jahre Sex. The last day is on Saturday so we suggest those Nudists interested hurry. Why the Museum chooses only to concentrate on 100,000 years is a mystery, however we are sure that there will be food for thought for everyone. Perhaps any of our European based viewers who have seen this exhibition can report back with their impressions.

Tokyo: Prime Minister Koizumi in Japan should invite the exhibition to come from Dresden to Tokyo and help stimulate Japan's falling fertility rate. The Japanese government is apparently struggling to come up with complicated reform packages based around workplace conditions in an order to encourage more woman to have babies. Read Leo Lewis' report carried in The Australian here. We think some more earthy advice may be more to the point such as this Athenian vase.

The Nude News Weather: Conditions remain frigid for nudits in Prague and likely to get worse in Frankfurt on Sunday. Paris too is not attractive for Nudists at present. New York also remains inhospitable. Los Angeles should be mild for the weekend. Sydney should be perfect for Nudists on Sunday. Singapore and Jakarta based nudists should experience pleasant temperatures tropical rain notwithstanding.

President Yudhoyono and Political Correctness

Jakarta: President Bambang Yudhoyono has subscribed to a simple skills test in his search for a new Armed Forces Chief. As reported by the Jakarta Post he has supervised a shooting contest by the Chiefs of Staff of the respective branches of the armed forces. Indonesians at least have one transparent test in which they can assess the military prowess of their bemedalled senior soldiers. After all pretty pointless if you are in the army and one cannot shoot straight. One wonders at what type of tests he will devise to assess the skills of other senior civil servants. A spellathon for civil servants in the education ministry, a first aid test in the Health department and so forth. We can only speculate for Bank Indonesia.

What will be interesting is if other Heads of State follow suit. It would be refreshing for all those tedious confirmation hearings in Congress to be replaced by a shoot out over at the Pentagon. Perhaps Her Majesty can force Tony Blair and others to parade at the trooping of the colour.

United Kingdom Scott Burgess in his blog The Daily Ablution comments on the growing political correctness debate in the UK. If you follow the comments to his post it has opened up a pretty lively debate.

However his comment on the case of Lynette Burrows opens up an interesting point. Ms Burrows made comments on an on air programme on the BBC Radio opposing adoption of boys by male same sex couples. Read more here. Someone makes a complaint to the police about a homophobic act and they investigate. It is disturbing that a minority can make anomyous complaints and intimidate people from freely expressing an opinion, however what is most disturbing of all is the reaction of the BBC itself. Its spokesman was quoted in the Telegraph newspaper online thus.

Radio Five said: "In the context of a live radio programme it sometimes happens that challenging and unpleasant opinions are expressed. Neither Victoria nor the BBC as a whole endorse any of the views of outside contributors to the phone-in debate."

They make no specific defense of Ms Burrows right to express an opinion. They have no obligation to endorse it, quite rightly, however you should think they would support the right to express an opinion. A fabulous abregation of responsibility on the part of a national broadcaster.

The Nude News Weather: There is a flood warning for Nudists in Jakarta with expected heavy rainfall for the next two days. Storms will continue in Singapore and Sydney is expected to remain sultry. Heatwave conditions remain for Brisbane and nudists without access to air-conditioning are advised to take a cool bath.

Austria Nude

Austria: readers of our post Indecency may rest assured that there are no such qualms regarding public nudity in Austria. As Leslie McKnight of the The Globe and Mail discovered. In fact the good Ms McKnight seems to have become the latest convert to the nude revolution. In her own words:

"When I finally emerged from the land of au naturel, I was a changed woman. My bathing suit seemed like an unnecessary barrier to comfort. Why, I wondered, are we all happily naked in the sauna, but modestly covered up around the pool? In fact, why wear clothes on a hot day? Why not strip down whenever the urge hits you? With a jolt, I realized I was a woman too changed. I gave my bathing suit a reassuring pat and welcomed it back into my life."

The Nude News legal department continues to advise nudists to refrain from nudity at Queensland beaches.

Jakarta: Jakarta based blogger, Jakartass praised the development of the busway in his blog please see here. No doubt he will be pleased to learn that the project will be extended further. Governor Sutiyoso has announced that limited operations will commence on January 15. Although some of the busway lanes are incomplete and that the full quota of busses are not yet available perhaps this will bring some measure of relief to Jakarta's long suffering commuters.

Once again, the Nude News legal department advises nudists that travelling naked on the busway may lead to persecution or worse.

The Nude News Weather: Nudists in Singapore and Jakarta can expect thunderstorms for the remainder of the week. Sydney is perfect for nudists at present with temperatures in the high twenties. Northern Europe remains hostile for nudists with frigi temperatures forecast to continue for some time to come.

Indecency

Canada: In what may have interesting implications for Nudists, a Supreme Court ruling in Canada has redefined the definition of indecency. Now harm rather than community standards is to be the key yardstick that will be used to measure the point at which constitutional freedoms can be limited. The ruling was made in relationship to a case involving the proprietors of two Montréal swinging clubs. They had been charged with maintaining a bawdy house. Apparently from now on in Canada consenting adults will be able to indulge in all sorts of ' adult behaviour ' provided that it is behind closed doors. The implications for public nudity remains unclear. If the new standard for in decency is extended then any opponents would have to argue that the site of a naked person in some shape or fashion cause them harm. This bulletin is looking forward to the first case. However we note that the current frigid temperatures across Canada may deter even the most ardent nudist from testing this new standard.

Queensland: The situation for nudits in Queensland remains tenuous here in a report from one nudist their plight is outlined. Whilst we suspect that the legal argument expressed therein is somewhat tenuous we have every sympathy with their plight. In any event public eloquence in political debate in Queensland has never been fashionable. Local government officials in Queensland are still grappling with the problem of "clothing optional beaches". In time-honoured fashion we suspect that their deliberations will muddle on into winter. Whilst many Queenslanders have been anxious to remove their speedos and boob tubes for some time, they may have to restrain themselves some time to come. The Nude News Legal department in the meantime recommends the following costume (featured)if nudists in Queensland wish to avoid persecution.

Jakarta. The long awaited Indonesia Infrastructure Summit has once more been delayed. No doubt, the pressing need for infrastructure projects has also miraculously abated.

Downfall

In our holiday edition we are taking time to look back at some entertainment options.

The Nude News Film Desk. Uninspired by current releases screening at our local cinema we have looked back at some works that have recently impressed us. The stand-out film for 2005 was Oliver Hirschbiegel's "Der Untergang". The film looks at Hitler's last few days in the bunker before his suicide. The story is seen mostly through the eyes of Hitler's secretary , Frau Traudl Junge. Whilst the story is not new the intensity which this production deals with the subject is impressive. Most impressive of all is that one is left with no sense of sympathy with any of the Nazi leadership. Their depravity is laid bare for all to see and it looses none of its impact for the passing of time.

Bruno Ganz is outstanding as Hitler. Probably nowhere more so than when he is lost in thought staring at a picture of Federick the Great, even as his world is burning around him. An excellent support cast has been assembled, however the show is stolen by Corinna Harfouch's portrayal of Magda Goebbels. The depravity of Nazi ideology is summed up when she murders her children then returns to her room, chain smoking and playing cards. Probably most chilling of all is that just before this scene Goebbels in a patheic last imitation of Hitler dictates his last "testament".

"The lies will one day vanish and above them truth will once again triumph. It will be the moment when we stand above everything, pure and unblemished" With "unblemished" still ringing in the viewers ears, Magda Goebbels without a word enters her children's room and murders them.

Of interest in the production is the character of Professor Schenk played by Christian Berkel. Schenk a doctor in the SS appears to be used by Hirschbiegel as a voice of reason. It is through him that we have a form of impotent protest of the summary execution of civilians by death squads and the need to maintain food supply for the civilian population. How a Colonel in the SS can be so naives seems a little far fetched to this reviewer however it is an interesting device to bring these issues to the viewers attention. Probably the best scene involving Berkel is towards the end of the film when he attempts to dissuade someone from suicide.

The portrayal of the Military men is somewhat haphazard. Weidling comes out best, probably as his role is one of the few heroic ones in the film (along with the civilians). Burgdorf one of the more sinister figures in the German army (he was the one who brought the poison to Rommel) is made to look like a drunken idiot. Krebs, the last Chief of the German General Staff looks like a nervous clerk.

If you have not seen this film it is worth watching.

On a technical note this bulletin has a copy of the Comstar released DVD. For the most part it is satisfactory however there a re a number of annoying features. There are a couple of annoying translation problems in the English sub-titles. Also at the end of the film there are some post scripts regarding the major characters. These are not translated at all. For those with a knowledge of German or history this is not a problem but those without it is annoying. Our copy purchased in Singapore also has only two sub-title options English and Mandorin. So be careful when you buy your copy.

A couple of other interesting points of note.

Fans of new German cinema would have been delighted with the appearance off Mathias Habich who plays a doctor in the hospital in the bunker. For those interested they should see him play the lead role in Volker Schlonforff's 1976 classic "Coup De Grace". Criterion Collection has an excellent production out on DVD. Read more here.

Also two of this cast, Christian Berkel and Justus von Dohnanyi feature in a fantastic film, "The Experiment". This 2001 film again directed by Hirschbiegel is based on the Stamford experiment. Gripping and sinister. It is a must see.

The Nude News Sports Desk For those readers overdosed on a diet of English premier League games over the holiday period, we can recommend the ABC Sports production "Calypso Summer". This is a collection of highlights from the West Indies Cricket Tour of Australia 1960-61. Shot in back and white with commentary refeshingly free of Tony Griieg and Geoff Boycott, this is a remarkable DVD. Sights of those famouns grounds, the Gabba, MCG and the SCG without the concrete jungle stands, electronic scoreboards will o doubt puzzle those viwers born post 1980. Sights too of spectators in hats and long socks, ladies with hats and in some cases gloves make an impact after an innundation of the Barmy Army.

Still over and above all we see rare footage of performaances of some of the greats. Garfield Sobers, Wes Hall, Frank Worral, Richie Benaud, Alan Davidson and Norm O'Neil. It will probably go down as the best cricket tour of Australia from a visiting team ever. (Notwitstanding bodyline). After viewing the performances here one can understand why.

Singapore For those not booked up we note that Dave Seaman will be playing at Zouk on January 7.

The Nude News Weather Our sunblock warning remains current for Brisbane with temperatures of over 44 expected today. Our warning for nudists to leave Prague also remains current as frigid temperatures continue to make life unpleasant for all but the most fanatical nudist.

Image Problems

Vienna: Having managed to offend a good many people in their last minute attempts to stop Turkey's potential admission to the EU, the Austrians have managed to offend just about everyone else. In a recent billboard campaign models masked as Her Majesty Elizabeth II, Presidents Bush and Chirac are engaged in a menage a trois. The billboards partially funded by a grant from the Austrian government were to promote an art festival. Read more here. Where the inspiration came for such an idea, one hardly knows. This bulletin can hardly imagine a situation notwithstanding the entente cordialle, where a reiging English Queen could consort with a Frenchmen. And as regards a Texan oilman, well the loss of the North American colonies still rankles with the House of Windsor. Now if it was the Duke of Edinburgh we may not be too sure.

New York: Rival imperial potentate Kofi Annan has also had a bad image week. The impeccably dressed Annan has never been a pin up boy for the disclosure movement. Upset over continued questions as to his relationship with his son and potential involvement in the oil for food scandal Mr Annan lashed out at The Times' James Bone. Accusing him of behaving like a school boy. As a dressing down, it was rather akin to being hit over the head with a wet lettuce leaf. One can well imagine the fear and trepidation coursing through the UN of the thought of Mr Annan on the war path. Read more here. He still has not answered the question as to why his son has benefited from tax concessions due to his position. Perhaps this is why Mr Annan feels so at home when he converses with the heads of states of most of the world's corrupt countries.

Nelson New Zealand: Police have once again displayed a marked lack of a sense of humor with respect to public nudity. A young couple driving in a super imposed fashion have been fined for dangerous driving and failing to wear a seat belt. Sadly no photos are available of our latest hero's of the nudist revolution.

The Nude News Weather:All nudists are advised to leave Prague immediately. Temperatures of -16 are expected overnight. Frigid temperatures are also forecast for New Jersey, Paris and Frankfurt. Nudists in Singapore and Jakarta can expect thunderstorms and temperatures in the low 30's. An extreme sunblock alert has been issued to all Nudists in Sydney and Brisbane with the mecury expected to climb into the 40's on Sunday and Monday. For those without sunblock hopefully they have access to airconditioning like our weather girl.
